AMRAP’s are a great test of the mental as well as the physical side of fitness. Whether you scale or not, pushing yourself to truly get as many rounds and reps as possible is crucial if you want to see big gains in your work capacity. It is easy to menatally “check out” in the tough middle minutes of a longer AMRAP, but I would challenge you to really buckle down and move quickly through the 10 and 15 minute marks. We see a lot of people with lots of energy left in the tank in the last 2 minutes, which is great in one aspect because it shows the will and determination to finish strong. On the other hand, going really hard and “crashing and burning” or “red-lining” is an important part in training as well. How do you really know your limits if you don’t ever visit that “crash and burn” physical state occasionally? This is our laboratory and what better place to test your limits than in our safe and controlled environment? So test yourself for 20 minutes today and see where your abilities can take you, as it may be much further than you ever thought possible.
