“I want to lose weight… but I don’t want to lose any strength, in fact I’d like to get stronger… but I DO NOT want to get bulky. Got anything for me?”
“I knew this one girl this one time who got REALLY bulky, I don’t want to get bulky like that.”
Answer: That friend of yours that got “bulky” worked her @%$ off to get that way, and it wasn’t on accident. If you are watching the CrossFit Games and thinking, “Those girls are too muscular. I don’t want to look like that!” then you are in luck because you train 5 hours per WEEK and they are training 5 hours per DAY. Trust me, I get it, you have a job, a family, some friends, and a life. You train hard during your 4 or 5 sessions a week and you look and feel better than ever. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Don’t worry about getting a splinter when the forest is falling down on you?” Let’s worry about proper movement patterns, getting rid of the fat, making our clothes fit better, and creating a fit lifestyle in ourselves before we worry about silly things that are just distracting us from getting better every day. Girls, whether it’s your goal or not, you have been doing CrossFit for X number of months and you look better now than you did when you started. You dedicated yourselves, you worked your butt off, and it’s paying off.
Whether you’re training to lose weight, gain weight, or gain muscle, one thing is in common: NUTRITION! It’s the base for all of your training. “Eat meat and veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and NO SUGAR…”
